Chimonobambusa tumidissinoda - Walking Stick bamboo - This extraordinary bamboo, closely related to Square bamboo, makes an excellent interior plant with its attractively shaped nodes. When the plant gets to a mature size the nodes are the size of saucers. The canes, topped with these nodes, were made into walking sticks. The tiered arrangement of the delicate foliage makes this an outstanding plant. This wonderful and still rare bamboo was only brought (smuggled) out of China for the first time in 1987. Used for centuries to make walking sticks by the Ti in Szechuan it remained a closely kept secret. The distribution is still controlled.

Phyllostachys aureosulcata aureocaulis - This cultivar of Yellowgroove bamboo is all yellow and is as hardy as Yellowgroove, -15°F. Maximum height is 25 feet. The all yellow appearance makes for a dramatic grove. Shown is a mature grove. A younger grove will have many more branches at lower levels. Very attractive mixed with a dark green bamboo such as Phyllostachys bissetii. Gallon.
